JOSEPH J. KOCH, DVM

JOSEPH J. KOCH, DVM

Dr. Joseph J. Koch started his veterinary career at Lincoln Land Animal Clinic in 1989 when it was strictly a large animal practice. Dr. Joe expanded the practice to include small animal medicine and surgery into the clinic you all know and love today. Dr. Joe graduated from the University of Illinois Veterinary Medicine program in 1988 and continues to practice both large and small animal medicine.

Dr. Joe can often be seen in his  overalls on farm calls or in his Cookie Monster scrubs at the office. Veterinary medicine continues to intrigue Dr. Joe, and he finds true joy in helping animals and their owners.

When he’s not working, Dr. Joe can be found playing guitar, volunteering at his church, cheering for the St. Louis Cardinals, or going for walks with his wife, Dr. Colleen Koch, and their Icelandic sheepdog, Kennari.

COLLEEN S. KOCH, DVM, DACVB

Dr. Colleen S. Koch is also a graduate of the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated in 1990. She joined the Lincoln Land Animal Clinic team in 2001 practicing both small and large animal (primarily equine) medicine. She has always enjoyed working with animals labeled as “difficult”, even before she went to vet school. In 2013, Dr. Colleen followed her passion and completed a veterinary residency program in animal behavior through the American College of Veterinary Behaviorists.

Dr. Colleen is now one of 100 board certified veterinary behaviorists in the world, and one of only three veterinary behaviorists seeing clinical cases in Illinois. Dr. Colleen sees behavior patients at Lincoln Land Animal Clinic.

Dr. Colleen continues to dedicate herself to the animal behavior field. In addition to helping people with their pets, she mentors a veterinary behavior resident and often serves as a preceptor for veterinary students. She is a nationally recognized speaker and continues to promote the human-animal bond as she guides pet owners through some of the more challenging aspects of pet ownership.
